Just like, FIght Club, the first rule of Secret 4 is you don’t talk about Secret 4.  But in this case, we will make an exception, because the musicianship in the band is exceptional. A new band, yes, but not new to the industry.  Collectively speaking they have been a part of the rockabilly, blues, rock, hip hop, and jazz scene in Chicago and Detroit for almost 120 years.  

 

The storied past goes something like this: 

In the 80s PoolBall and Bam Bam met and played together in the Buzzards and the Deacons, 2 well established outfits in the post punk Rockabilly scene in Chicago along the likes of Naked Raygun, The Stray Cats, and The Smashing Pumpkins.  Jack Bilby on the other hand was making a name for himself in the deep Chicago Blues scene as the lead guitarist for Son Seals.  In the 2000s LaeLo was a big part of the hip hop scene in Chicago, rocking keys with Treologic and Lowdown Brass Band.  

Who knew they would find themselves in the same band, sounding like a cross between The Black Keys and and instrumental Johnny Cash.  

 

The Secret 4 is an all instrumental band, out of Chicago, with deep roots in the Chicago Blues, Rockabilly, crossing paths at Country Road, Jazz Alley, and Punk Rock Lane. Look for the self titled album “The Secret 4” on all streaming platforms, and on vinyl June 1st.
